NIPCO PLC SET TO
RELEASE 20 MILLION LITERS OF DPK
The Management of NIPCO has assured the populace of the
availability of Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) as its
terminal in Apapa with a view to crashing the price of
the household product in the country. For the avoidance
of doubt, NIPCO is set to release about, 20,000 M.T. of
DPK between now and the end of next week.
The renewed hope of mass loading of the product through
the myriads of Independent Petroleum Marketers spread
across the length and breadth of the country is fallout
of the tremendous support the Company has been enjoying
from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The company stressed that the corporation has been
meeting the product need of the Independent Petroleum
Marketers over the years through NIPCO depot, which has
also served as a complementary terminal to IPMAN members
aside from the PPMC 21 depots across the nation.
The DPK receipt and subsequent loading to IPMAN retail
outlets, which should have, begin about two weeks ago
was temporarily delayed due to logistics problems of
transshipment from the mother vessel that brought the
product for PPMC.
With the successful completion of the transshipment, and
the special assistance of PPMC in view of their kind
interest in the depot, loading is expected to commence
immediately.
The company pointed out that is aware of the rising cost
of the product in the market, which is mainly due to
logistic problem associated with product receipt from
the array of vessel that PPMC used to import it.
It maintained that the source of the hike in price could
not be traced to NNPC through its subsidiaries as
adequate arrangement has been made through import and
local supply from the Port-Harcourt Refinery with NIPCO
always getting supply based on our demand.
The company which had remained grateful for the
tremendous support it had garnered from the NNPC since
it began operation in July, 2004 is very conscious of
this development and is ever prepared to maintain this
fruitful business relationship.
NIPCO has never been cut off from supply of any
petroleum product as it has remained the toast of NNPC
because of the Corporation’s believe in the ideals of
the Company, which is tailored towards making petroleum
product available at cheaper price in all the nooks and
crannies of the country.
NNPC, through its subsidiaries has contributed immensely
to the wellbeing of the Independent Petroleum Marketers
by assuring the availability of product at NIPCO depot,
which automatically translates to good return on their
investment in the Company. The Company as it is today
remains one of the fastest growing entities in the
downstream sector of the oil and gas industry, a feat
that is fallout of the immeasurable support of NNPC.
Our plea to IPMAN members across the country is to be
more patient on the DPK issue as we assure good supply
this week and more important at a very affordable price,
which NIPCO is known for.
